The Russian press have uncovered a deal signed between Maputo and Moscow in 2015, which came into effect last year, to sell Russian arms to Mozambique as part of a military co-operation agreement.

Meanwhile, data from neighbouring Zimbabwe has revealed that Mozambique has joined the list of buyers of tobacco from that country - albeit, for now, in very small quantities. Zimbabwe’s tobacco growers are hoping it could herald the start of a new relationship, however.
