Insurgents attacked in the district of Chiure last night, apparently following a trajectory that in June led them to commit their first attack in Nampula province

31 August 22: Megaruma A, Ancuabe
Two men and a woman were beheaded by insurgents in the fields near the village of Megaruma A, on the banks of the Megaruma river dividing Ancuabe and Chiure districts. Insurgents were seen moving south into Chiure following the attack.

31 August 22: Micolene, Chiure
A drinks seller in Micolene, Chiure district, was beheaded by insurgents just before midnight on 31 August. The rest of the village was reportedly left untouched.

Insurgents burned houses and cars in the village of Muamula in the early hours of the morning.
